.About

Pher Hands is the artistic practice of Chris van Hartesveldt, a multidisciplinary artist, maker, builder, and designer based in Metro Detroit.

His work applies a chaotic, colorful, and aggressive visual language to refined and unexpected forms: stone furniture, custom vehicles, eyewear, paintings, objects, and built environments.

The work is not limited by category. The point is the challenge of taking an idea out of the ether and turning it into reality.

The Work

An evolving body of work spanning objects, vehicles, furniture, paintings, and built environments.

A Method Cut in Stone

Before it ever touches the face, it must survive the maker.

Every pair begins not in a factory, but in a quarry, a fault line, a private archive. From there, the material undergoes a transformation; slow, exacting, deliberate.

The result isn’t just wearable. It’s archival. And no two will ever exist again.
